When I posted a quote recently which talks about only believing what you like out of the gospels and not believing the parts you don’t like, a dear loved one said something I am sure goes through allot of people’s minds (and similar arguments just like it): Basically she said she thought the men who translated it left out parts that threatened them. Then she said she was sure it wasn’t quite what God wanted, but that it was a beautiful work.
So, you know me. I set out to do some research and refute her argument! I started reading all about how the King James Version (originally published in 1611, Commissioned by King James 1) was researched and put together by a body of the most respected, well-learned theologians and scholars of the time. It was a painstaking work as they translated not only from the original Greek and Hebrew, but also from the previous versions of the Bible in the other known languages of the day. Then as I was reading through all of that, “I thought Wait a minute! I don’t need to do all of this. This is silly! I just need to go back to the basics.” So here they are:

Otherwise, we suggest that God’s Word, as “breathed out” to the various writers is not accurate. If the God of all creation cannot ensure the King James Version was exactly perfect in our English, then God must be able to make a mistake and is fallible. And if that is the case then God is not who He says He is. And if that is the case, why believe anything in the Gospels? Which do you choose to believe? A TRIBUTE TO THE BIBLE "The Bible is not an amulet, a charm, a fetish, or a book that will work wonders by its very presence. It is a book that will work wonders in every life, here and hereafter, if acted upon and obeyed in faith and sincerity. It is God’s inspired revelation of the origin and destiny of all things, written in the most simple human language possible so that the most unlearned can understand and obey its teachings. It is self-interpreting and covers every subject of human knowledge and need now and forever. As a literary composition, the Bible is the most remarkable book ever made. It is a divine library of 66 books, some of considerable size, and others no larger than a tract. These books include various forms of literature – history, biography, poetry, proverbial sayings, hymns, letters, directions for elaborate ritualistic worship, laws, parables, riddles, allegories, prophecy, drama, and others. They embrace all manner of literary style in human expression. It is the book that reveals the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts binding, its histories true, and its decisions immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. The Bible contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword, and the Christian’s charter. Here heaven is opened, and the gates of hell disclosed. Christ is its grand subject, our good is its design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill your memory, rule your heart, and guide your feet in righteousness and true holiness. Read it slowly, frequently, prayerfully, meditatively, searchingly, devotionally, and study it constantly, perseveringly, and industriously. Read it through and through until it becomes part of your being and generates faith that will move mountains. The Bible is a mine of wealth, the source of health, and a world of pleasure. It is given to you in this life, will be opened at the judgment, and will stand forever. It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the least to the greatest of labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred content." Dake’s Annotated Reference Bible Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit (the Holy spirit indwelling believers) is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” The Old Scofield Study Bible notes: “Christian character is not mere moral or legal correctness, but the possession and manifestation of nine graces: love, joy, peace--character as an inward state; longsuffering, gentleness, goodness--character in expression toward man; faith, meekness, temperance-- character in expression toward God. Taken together they present a moral portrait of Christ, and may be taken as the apostle's explanation of Galatians 2:20 "Not I, but Christ," and as a definition of "fruit" in John 15:1-8 This character is possible because of the believer's vital union to Christ ; John 15:5 ; 1 Corinthians 12:12 1 Corinthians 12:13 and is wholly the fruit of the Spirit in those believers who are yielded to Him (Galatians 5:22 Galatians 5:23).” Psalms 104: Praise to the Sovereign Lord for His Creation, Mercy, and Love 1 Bless the Lord, O my soul! "Why Four Gospels?"
If you've ever wondered why there are differences between the four Gospels of Christ (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) this is a very good article tying the four together and outlining their purpose, audience, and authors. Well worth reading. :) Isaiah 41:10, “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” 1 Corinthians 15:57-58, "But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord." Galatians 6:7-10, "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. This is God's children. Those who have accepted Jesus as their Savior - Jew and Gentile. 1 Timothy 3:16, “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory.” 1 Timothy 1:17, “Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.” 1 Timothy 2:5-6, “For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.” 1 Timothy 6:11-16, “But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
